The indoor unit of the air source heat pump is dripping water, what to do?

The indoor unit of an air source heat pump may start to drip water during summer or humid weather. This is a common problem that can have several causes. It is not recommended to use an air source heat pump in cooling mode during winter. If you notice that the unit is dripping water, we recommend checking the following:

1) Check the device settings on the remote control

Check that the air source heat pump settings are correct. The collection temperature must not be below 23-24 degrees Celsius. The fan speed must be at least level 2, and it is recommended to keep the unit at the highest possible fan speed. A low fan speed combined with a very low collection temperature can create a "microclimate" around the unit, which leads to condensation on the fins of the indoor unit.

2) Check the condensation water pipe slope

Make sure that the end of the condensate hose is lower than any other point in the condensate hose. If there is no slope in the pipe, water can flow back into the indoor unit. Also check that the end of the hose is not submerged if it is directed into a condensate container.

If the problem persists, there may be a blockage in the hose. In this case, it is recommended to contact the company that installed the device.

3) Find out when the air source heat pump was last serviced

If it has been some time since the last service, the indoor unit may have accumulated dirt, especially in the kitchen or other areas with a lot of grease or dust in the air. Accumulated dirt can prevent the condensation from flowing properly. You can order a Fresh Wash service from Hesatek, which includes a comprehensive inspection and cleaning of the indoor and outdoor units.
